HKFWC celebrates 35 years of Advancing Women’s Rights

Since the Hong Kong Federation of Women’s Centres’ founding in 1981, we have walked hand in hand with women to advance women’s rights. We promote gender equality and provide essential services to women, having established three centres in Lai Kok Estate in Sham Shui Po, Tai Wo Estate in Tai Po, and Flora Plaza in Fanling.

The help and support of our members, volunteers, and many cordial organizations and individuals have been one of the main pillars supporting our work and faith in our cause across these 35 years. We have prepared a number of events in celebration of our 35th anniversary, and we invite all of our members, volunteers, and others who have helped us over the years to join us in our elation and participate in our anniversary events feting this special occasion.

Kicking off our anniversary is the Grand Re-opening Ceremony of our Jockey Club Lai Kok Centre.  The event coincides with Women Telling All cum Open Day of Jockey Club Lai Kok Centre, a stage carnival with many games as well as two plays authored by women.  The first, a family drama, relates the tale of a woman spurned. May, a middle-class woman, is stunned when she learns that her husband is cheating on her with another woman and her life takes a bitter turn. The second is a story of workplace injustice. We follow the stalwart, economically disadvantaged Ling, and experience the unfair treatment she faces on the job.Want to know how their stories end? Join us for the show! The two event run from 11a.m.-12:30p.m. and 2-4 p.m. on 19 March (Saturday) at the Jockey Club Lai Kok Centre.
