Community Education for Supporting Carers in Hong Kong

Based on traditional gender values, society constructs what it calls the role of women as carers. However, in traditional gender values, women have always lacked the space to make choices for their own needs, and the established family role stereotypes also make carers lack respect and recognition. Therefore, as one of the family roles, the ability of carers has not been recognized and valued. With funding from the Equal Opportunities Commission, we launched the "Community Education for Supporting Carers in Hong Kong" in July 2021, with a view to establishing public awareness of the intangible contributions of carers to the family and society , and hope that by increasing the public's positive perception of carers, to understand the uniqueness of each carer, to increase the recognition of caregivers in the group, family and society, and to create a caregiver-friendly community environment.
