Continuous support to new immigrant women and single mothers
We would like to invite community members, regional groups, social welfare organizations and cross-sector group representatives to establish a consultation committee on the continuous support to immigrant women and single mothers. Through regular meetings and opinion exchange, we hope to provide pertinent services to new immigrant women and single mothers, and develop a sustainable social support network.
Create 'women-friendly' job opportunities with enterprises
Many women in the community want to work, but they give up because they have low self-esteem or need to take care of their families. Some of them may even hide themselves, causing more personal and family problems. Considering this, our volunteers have visited employers and enterprises in the community, explained the employment problems of the new immigrant women and single mothers, and persuaded the employers to provide "women-friendly" job opportunities. On one hand, the employers can find suitable staff; and on another hand, women can balance family and work, and bring new power to the community.
Peer-coaching volunteer training
We regularly recruit community members to become volunteers. Apart from explaining the situations new immigrants and single mothers face, we also share community information and comforting skills on phone and during home visits. Furthermore, we invite new immigrants and single mothers who have joined our events before to become a part of our "peer coaching" training, so that they can encourage women to participate in the community with their own experiences.
The project ended in December 2020
