IWD2026|Workshop on Police Identification and Handling of Domestic Violence Cases

To strengthen the response capabilities of our hotline counsellors when handling calls related to domestic violence, we recently invited Senior Inspector of Police from the Family Conflict and Sexual Violence Policy Unit of the Hong Kong Police Force to deliver a professional sharing session at the HKFWC Jockey Club Lai Kok Centre.

At the “Police Identification and Handling of Domestic Violence Cases” workshop held on 13 March, the police representative provided an in-depth explanation of the current classification of domestic conflict cases, relevant legislation, responsible police units, and intervention measures. Through real case sharing, hotline counsellors gained a clearer understanding of practical follow-up directions and response strategies.

A total of 26 hotline counsellors participated in this on-the-job training. Through this training, counsellors not only acquired the latest information and practical knowledge, but also enhanced their judgement and support capabilities when handling help-seeking calls, enabling them to provide more timely and appropriate assistance to women in need.

Domestic violence is not merely an individual incident, but a social issue that requires systemic and professional responses.

We would like to express our sincere gratitude to the Hong Kong Police Force for their professional sharing and support.
Together, we will continue to strengthen our services and provide stronger support for women facing domestic violence.
