In Hong Kong, one in every seven people is a carer, and over 90% of them are women. As an organisation that has long been supporting carers, we are delighted to see growing attention and support from different sectors of society, ensuring that carers’ needs are truly recognised.
Today, the flagship initiative “Care for Caregivers Programme,” led by the HKEX Foundation, was officially launched. The programme aims to enhance the physical and mental well-being of carers in Hong Kong. In response to the large and growing carer community, the initiative will promote support at three levels: community, corporate, and policy & culture. Through cross-sector collaboration, it seeks to strengthen carers’ capacity to cope with stress and improve their quality of life, while building a more inclusive and caring society.
The launch ceremony was held at the HKEX Connect Hall, officiated by Mr Chris Sun, JP, Secretary for Labour and Welfare; Mr Carlson Tong, Chair of HKEX; and Mr Paul Wong, Group General Counsel and Group Chief Sustainability Officer of HKEX.
Distinguished guests including Mr Edward To, Director of Social Welfare, and Ms Winnie Kang, Commissioner for Rehabilitation, also attended the ceremony.
We will also establish a Caregivers Community Support Team in Tai Po District, dedicated to supporting high-risk families and communities, including:
✨ Family-centred case management
✨ Outreach services
✨ Emergency support
✨ Guidance on long-term care planning
At the same time, as a founding member of the CarerEPS, we will work with other platform members to actively expand the number of participating organisations and recruit more carer-friendly businesses to provide offers for carers, thereby building a community-based supportive network for carers.
Through support at multiple levels, we hope that carers, while caring for others, can also receive understanding, support, and companionship from society.
We provide a series of women-orientated service, including Counselling & Legal Support, Training & Employment Support, Gender Education, Caring the Carers, Cherish Food, Childcare & After-school Care, various Social Participation and Volunteer Development to promote gender equality in Hong Kong. We hope to enable women to develop their Confidence, Independence and Competence.
