We would like to thank the Rotary Club of Hong Kong and the Hong Kong Council of Social Service for inviting us to share the current situation and needs of caregivers in Hong Kong. On that day, our Service Supervisor Ms. Apple Tsoi, Officer-in-charge of Jockey Club Carer Space (Sham Shui Po) Ms. Vicky Lee, and Officer-in-charge of Jockey Club Lai Kok Centre Ms. Janis Fan attended the sharing session.
Reflecting on our past carer needs survey, we found that carers have various needs in four areas: "Physical", "Emotional", "Social", and "Economic." "Physical" refers to the bodily pain caused by caregiving work; "Emotional" pertains to the emotional conditions stemming from caregiving stress; "Social" indicates the loss of social connections due to long-term caregiving for family members; and "Economic" refers to the financial needs and pressures faced by carers and their families.
At the same time, we also shared the various carer services our organization provides. The response from the Rotary Club members was enthusiastic, and they shared many innovative ideas to support carers, such as using exercise to alleviate pain and utilizing AI to help carers find social support. We look forward to more collaborations with Rotary Club members in the future to provide even more innovative services for carers!
