Press Conference on the "Child Carer Support Project" Survey Results

On April 3, prior to Children's Day, the HKFWC and Tin Shui Wai Community Development Network jointly released the results of the "Child Carer Support Project" Survey. Most respondents are in favour of the government's granting various allowances to children or child carers.  Two carers who participated in the survey shared their views at the event.

In Ah Mui's opinion, carers at home are also part of the workforce that contributes to society's development. She hoped the government would provide childcare allowance so as to relieve the financial pressure on carers and to offer a better future to children. Similarly Ah Chun pointed out that it takes more effort and patience to take care of children with special needs.  In her opinion, childcare allowances from the government would recognize the value of carers' work and relieve their financial pressure by compensating for their unavailability to work fulltime.  We hope that the government would listen to the voices of women and establish a "Universal Childcare Allowance" and an "Allowance for Carers of Children with Special Needs" as soon as possible.
