The HKFWC Jockey Club Tai Wo Centre formally started its operation in October 2012, was a result of a generous donation of more than HK$4 million from the Hong Kong Jockey Club Charities Trust supporting the expansion of HKFWC's services. We were joined by more than 110 guests during grand opening ceremony on 1 December.
We were honoured by the participation of several honoured guests at the 1 December grand opening ceremony, which was simple, yet solemn. Under Secretary for the Environment Dr Christine Loh Kung-wai and Hong Kong Jockey Club Charities Manager Jasmine Chung Waiman officiated and spoke at the ceremony, along with former HKFWC President Dr Fanny Cheung Mui-ching and 2012-13 Executive Committee Chairperson Ms Evelyn Ng Gaik-hoon. Many of the women volunteers who had witnessed the development of the Tai Wo Centre also spoke about the growth and changes they had experienced since participating in the Centre's events. We also invited various groups from the area so as to more effectively promote and develop our services, including representatives from the government and District Council, the Federation of Parent-Teacher Associations, and residential groups from Tai Po District.
