With the support by The Hong Kong Jockey Club, HKFWC cooperated with Sau Po Centre on Ageing of The University of Hong Kong, Caritas Hong Kong, Evangelical Lutheran Church Social Service– Hong Kong, Hong Kong Sheng Kung Hui Lady MacLehose Centre and Hong Kong Young Women's Christian Association to launch the Jockey Club Carer Space Project. Carer-centric service centres will be established in different districts, in order to increase public awareness on carers' needs and promote a carer-friendly community.
The project pilots a carer-centric service model to understand needs in different caregiving stages through validated assessment and provide service recommendations. Sau Po Centre on Ageing of The University of Hong Kong evaluates the Project’s effectiveness and develops capacity-building strategies to drive sector development. The Carer Centre will provide the follows services:
- Carers' needs assessment and service recommendations
- Community resources consultation and referral
- Carer skills training
- Care journey planning and counselling
- Respite service for older adults
