Report! Report! You have received a special mission invitation from the Women's Centre! Our SEN children and their caregivers need your support!
To alleviate the economic burden on families of students with special educational needs (SEN) and to ensure that these students receive appropriate care, we sincerely invite all runners to become our "Special Mission" 10K charity runners. This initiative aims to raise funds for after-school care services tailored to SEN students, maintaining high-quality support.
Surveys have found that most full-time unpaid caregivers are women. Among child caregivers, there is a group that cares for children with SEN (special educational needs)! Caregivers of SEN children face many challenges in seeking community resources, as there are insufficient specialized support services for SEN respite care in society. Additionally, general after-school care services often lack the professional knowledge to support SEN children, leading to potential withdrawal from services due to emotional and behavioral issues. Many mothers of SEN children become full-time caregivers due to the need for close supervision, and often, caregivers must self-fund specialized training for SEN children, placing significant financial pressure on families.
In response, our organization launched the first after-school care service specifically supporting SEN children in the Tai Po area earlier this year. We hope to meet the needs of SEN children and their caregivers while alleviating the economic burden on low-income families, ensuring that SEN children receive appropriate care and do not miss out on learning opportunities due to financial constraints. This initiative also aims to provide caregivers with space to develop themselves and gain respite.
