Hong Kong Federation of Women's Centres will be hosting a seminar on December 7, 2024, from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM at Hysan Place, 20/F, 500 Hennessy Road, Causeway Bay, to discuss effective strategies for protecting women from domestic violence.
Since 1992, HKFWC has been providing free legal consultations. Over the years, domestic and intimate partner violence have consistently emerged as pressing issues.
This seminar will bring together experts from various fields to explore how to better protect the rights of female victims of violence. Topics will include:
- Does current legislation adequately protect women in different violent situations?
- Can social systems and laws effectively support the mental health of domestic violence victims?
- Frontline observations from peer counsellors: The challenges faced by female victims of domestic violence
- Police identification and handling of domestic violence cases and relevant laws
The seminar will be conducted in Cantonese and is open to social workers, counsellors, healthcare professionals, legal professionals, academics, students, and members of the public concerned about this issue.
